Guide to Installing Computer Memory

Installing computer memory is very very very easy. You simply stick the RAM where it fits!

There are many different types of memory currently on the market. I have dedicated these guides to the socket 370 platform so make sure you get at least 128MB of 168 Pin DIMM - Non-ECC SDRAM at 133mhz. This is the specific type of memory you need. It is also currently the cheapest type available.

Your memory chip will have a notch on either side so the clips will hold it in. It will also have two notches on the bottom edge that will only match up with the memory slot one way.

Check Out This Ram!

Have a look at this close up picture of some RAM I installed earlier.

Installed RAM
Here is a memory chip sticking up from the motherboard. Notice the white clips on either side? You must push the memory down until these clips lock into the notches on either side of the memory.

This makes it impossible to install the memory chip incorrectly. Just make sure you align the notches up and push the memory chip into the slot using straight downward pressure.

That's pretty much all there is to it! Check out the latest prices on RAM at TigerDirecticon now.
