For today's computers performance depended on the motherboard. When i buy a motherboard i look at the ones that where awarded as
best motherboard on the market in the past because they are very good and i know that if they are a little bit old they don't cost that much, look for how big of a processor they can handle because updating only the CPU in the future is very easy and does not cost much! Also make sure it can take a lot of memory because you might want to update that in the future, just make sure the motherboard is ready for tomorrow's technology.
